 "My Way" (A mi manera) es una canción popular escrita por Fred Brott, adaptada al inglés por Paul Anka, basada en la canción francesa Comme d'habitude, escrita por Claude François y Jacques Revaux con letra en francés de Claude François y Gilles Thibaut. La versión en inglés solo mantiene la melodía de la canción, ya que la letra fue re-escrita y es totalmente diferente de la original. Su primera interpretación fue realizada por Frank Sinatra en el disco "My Way" en el año 1969. "My Way" se convirtió en la canción por la cual es reconocido Frank Sinatra, aunque en el momento de su estreno Sinatra no logró una buena posición en las listas de éxitos. La cancion El tema original, "Comme d'habitude", es un relato que hace un hombre de su vida cotidiana, en donde expresa la tristeza de aparentar todos los días estar bien, a pesar de no estarlo, y deja notar la distancia que hay entre él y su pareja durante todo el día. Narra que mientras ella duerme, él debe levantarse para ir a trabajar, y que durante el día prentende estar bien. Al volver a su casa, ella aún no regresó. El se acuesta y la espera, y al volver, terminan el día haciendo el amor. Es un tema de espíritu muy nostálgico y triste, pero con un final feliz. La letra de "My Way" cuenta la historia de un hombre que está cercano a su muerte y mira hacia la historia de su vida hablando con un amigo ficticio sentado a su lado. La personalidad del hombre se describe en la canción con una voluntad fuerte, confiado y determinado; es un hombre que no depende de otros para progresar en la vida. Está feliz al ver cómo vivió y el curso que tomó su vida, y lo que logró de ella; a la vez reconoce que también ha tenido arrepentimientos y que ha sufrido grandes tristezas. Sin embargo, se mantiene optimista y asombrado por lo que ha logrado hasta el momento: "And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing..." La Doctrina Sinatra  La identificación de la canción con Sinatra se volvió tan fuerte, que la canción se tranformó en un ícono, y así el Gobierno Sovietico de Mijaíl Gorbachov bromeando se refería a su política de no-intervencionismo en los asuntos internos de los demás países firmantes del Pacto de Varsovia como la "Doctrina Sinatra".
